How to extract pages from a pdf file in Ubuntu Linux

There is this very handy tool called "pdftk" in Ubuntu, which can extract pages from a pdf file.

For example, suppose I want to extract pages 143-169 from the pdf file "thesis.pdf" and save it in the file "chap8.pdf". I can do

pdftk thesis.pdf cat 143-169 output chap8.pdf
