A short Maxima tutorial

If you can't afford expensive Mathematica, then Texmacs+Maxima is a good alternative as a symbolic calculator. To load Maxima in Texmacs, simply do "Insert"->"Session"->Maxima.

In this post, I will constantly update with the commands that I find most useful in Maxima.

Integration:
  • Indefinite integral
    integrate(cos(x),x)
  • Definite integral
    integrate(cos(x),x,0,%pi/2)
  • Double integral
    integrate(integrate(x^2+y^2,y,0,1-x),x,0,1)
